The NatuReef Iron Plus formulation is not gummed up with a bunch of organic materials, like other supplements use. Instead, it allows the Iron to be used in its free form or to naturally bound by the organics in your tank.
- Provides the Iron needed in any marine environment.
- Plays an essential role in the metabolic process of algae, vertebrates, and inverts.
- Contains NO extraneous junk or fillers.
- The PLUS means that we’ve included a number of minor growth substances, such as Cobalt and Manganese, to put photosynthesis into high gear!
- If you want to grow green macro algae or are cultivate phytoplankton, Iron Plus is the most natural product to use.
Iron Plus may be added manually or with a precision NatuReef dosing system described under Dosers.
NatuReef Iron Plus is available in 16oz. and 32oz. bottles.
Algae and almost all symbiotic zooxanthellae that live within corals, sponges, anemones, clams etc. have a requirement for Iron, along with other micro growth substances. The Iron Plus formulation provides an unchelated form of Iron. Chelation (the binding of the Iron within an organic matrix) may give an unfair advantage to microalgae that is able to metabolize the organic Iron complex. Also, since the Iron used Iron Plus is at its highest oxidation state, a temporary rise in redox may be observed following its use. The other growth substances are Manganese, Cobalt, Copper and Zinc.
The Iron Plus formulation is pH stabilized to maintain the elements in the ionic form. The concentrations of Iron Plus is proportioned to the concentration of iron in natural seawater. Although trace metals such as Copper can be toxic to some invertebrates, this formulation contains only microquantities essential for metabolism at levels far below that of toxicity. As with most trace additives, their residence time in the water depends upon the biomass using them, the filtration extracting them, and the water conditions that may bind them. Therefore, if trace additives are used on a regular basis it is prudent to perform periodic checks for accumulation or deficiency. A low or high limit should be established. For Iron these limits may be 0.01 to 0.05.
Directions: Add directly to aquarium. One drop per gallon or 6.5 ml per 100 gallons twice per week. Do not dilute or mix with other supplements.
Caution: Keep away from children and pets. For marine aquarium use only.
